Calixarenes are cyclic oligomers made up of benzene units linked by alkylidene groups, which are the third generation of host molecules following by crownether and cyclodextrin. In this paper, several kinds of calixarenes derivatives were synthesized using p-tert-butyl-phenol as an original reactant and some their applications in analytical chemistry were studied by the fluorescence and UV-Vis methods. The content consists of following seven chapters:In chapter 1, first a general introduction to the synthesis and derivatives of calixarenes and their applications in molecular recognition were presented. Based on the concerning updated development and our experiment conditions, the research proposal for this thesis was presented. In chapter 2, the synthesis method and characterization of the calixarene derivatives in the thesis were described. In chapter 3, preparation and fluorescence properties of calix[4]arene nanoparticles were introduced. Based on this, a new method for determining Fe3+ was developed. In chapter 4, the fluorescence behavior of p-sulfonated calix[4, 6]arene in cationic surfactant was investigated. According to the fluorescence of the p-sulfonated calix[4, 6]arene-CTAB complex quenched by some cephalosporins, a new fluoremetric method for assaying cephalosporins was developed. In chapter 5, the inclusion interaction of p-sulfonated calix[4, 6]arene andβ-CD towards dopamine and epinephrine was studied by spectrofluoremetric titrations in details. 1HNMR spectra were applied to verify the formation of the complexes. In chapter 6, a preliminary investigation of complexation of cephalosporins by p-sulfonated phenylazocalix[6]arene using fluorescence spectrometry was described. The research may extend the molecular recognition range of water-soluble and chromogenic calixarene for drugs. In chapter 7, the work of this thesis was summarized briefly, and the following research in future was proposed.
