Hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) is one of the most important inorganic chemical raw materials and fine chemical products widely used for chemical, textile, paper, food, medicine, metallurgy, electronics, agriculture, military, environmental protection and other areas. With the rapid development of the global economy, the safety and efficiency of its operations have led to the development of numerous applications. The demand of hydrogen peroxide is also growing. Currently, the main productive method of hydrogen peroxide is anthraquinone process. The production of hydrogen peroxide is a cyclic process of catalytic hydrogenation and oxidation of alkylanthraquinones and alkylanthrahydroquinones mixtures in various binary and ternary solvent systems. The organic degradation of anthraquinone in the hydrogen peroxide has been a major factor affecting production, therefore anthraquinones and degradations of the hydrogen peroxide working solution can be qualitatively and quantitatively analysted and the hydrogenation mechanism of 2-ethyl-9,10-anthraquinone can be discussed is also a research focus.This paper reported on the analysis of anthraquinones and degradations of hydrogen peroxide working solution by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and chromatography- mass spectrometry (LC/GC-MS) methods, the optimal separating conditions of chromatography analysis of hydrogen peroxide working solution: Shimadzu VP - ODS 150mm×4.6mm as chromatographic column; methanol / water (68/32,V/V) as mobile phase; ultraviolet (UV) detectorλis 230nm and flow rate at 0.8ml/min. HPLC-MS method and GC-MS method qualitative analysis the components of hydrogen peroxide solution such as 2-ethyl- 9,10 - anthraquinone(EAQ), 2 - ethyl - 5,6,7,8 - tetrahydro - 9,10 -anthraquinone (H4EAQ),2-ethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-9,10-anthrone(ETHAN), 2 - ethyl - 5,6,7,8 - tetrahy - dro - 9 - hydroxy - anthraquinone, 2 - ethyl -3,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydro-9-hydroxy-anthraquin- one, 2-ethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro - 9,10 - anthraquinone epoxide(EPOXH4EAQ), 2 - ethyl - 9,10 -anthrone(EAN) and so on.In order to affirm categories and quantity of hydrogen peroxide working solution's organic degradations, we also synthesized a series of degradation products such as EAN,EPOXH4EAQ,ETHAN and so on. Those products have been qualitative analysis by HPLC-MS method and provided evidence for qualitative and quantitative analysis of hydrogen peroxide working solution's organic degradations.We have studied the mechanism of hydrogenation of 2 - ethyl - 9,10 -anthraquinone and Catalytic hydrogenation of the solution of 2-ethyl-9,10-anthraquinone (EAQ) using suspended palladium catalyst. And we have also studied the influence of reaction condition(Such as type of catalyst,reaction temperature,reaction time and hydrogen pressure) to selectivity. and obtained some conclusion which is differ from former other researchers. Based the result of experiment, we can draw some conclusion which will instruct production of Hydrogen peroxide.
