Collagen exists in skin, bone, gristle, tooth, tendon, ligament and blood vessel of the animal. The collagen likes fiber and has good mechanical property. But collagen has bad fiberizability, it is hard to spin solely. Collagen must spin compositely with the other polymers which have good fiberizability. In this paper, the collagen/ polyvinyl alcohol steady composite Spinning solution is got via adding polyvinyl alcohol to collagen solution, and then adding crosslinking agent (AlCl3, Na2B4O7, glutaraldehyde) to composite solution, when compositing the collagen and polyvinyl alcohol. Collagen/polyvinyl alcohol composite as-formed fiber could be produced via wet spinning. After heat drawing, heat setting, and acetalization, the collagen/PVA composite fiber was obtained. Research the structure-properties of composite fiber. The composite fiber don't only improve the disadvantage of collagen, but only hygroscopicity and dyeability of the composite fiber get higher than PVA fiber.The result of the experimentation shows, the collagen which have the lower relative molecular weight (lower than 10000) and more ash content(higher than 2%), isn't fit for the raw material of the collagen/polyvinyl alcohol composite fiber, which lead a mass of collagen dissolved when spinning and composite fiber's protein retention rate to reduce. Three kinds of crosslinking agent have some crosslinking function on the collagen and polyvinyl alcohol.The collagen/polyvinyl alcohol composite fiber's protein retention rate reaches to 54.01%which is got by adding AlCl3, trength is 3.58cN/dt, modulus is 62.28cN/dt, elongation is 22.99%and crystallinity is 47.16%, the dyeability of the substantive dye is 97%, the dyeability of the reactive dye is 80%, the softening point in hot water is 95℃, hygroscopicity is about 13%.The collagen/polyvinyl alcohol composite fiber's protein retention rate reaches to 95%which is got by adding Na2B4O7, trength is 7.07cN/dt, modulus is 108.66cN/dt, elongation is 14.00%and crystallinity is 57.64%, the dyeability of the substantive dye is 95%, the dyeability of the reactive dye is 79%, the softening point in hot water is 100℃, hygroscopicity is about 10%. The collagen/polyvinyl alcohol composite fiber's protein retention rate reaches to 88%which is got by adding glutaraldehyde, trength is 3.74cN/dt, modulus is 44.60cN/dt, elongation is 31.30%and crystallinity is 60.79%, the dyeability of the substantive dye is 95%, the dyeability of the reactive dye is 75%, the softening point in hot water is 105℃, hygroscopicity is about 8%.
