This paper studies on adsorption and recovery of gasoline vapor with active carbon which is the sorbent, which supplies the reference to the processing and design of adsorption in oil vapor recovery system. The main content includes:I. Several active carbons were bought from the market, and the active carbon were selected by studying on adsorption and desorption performances and adsorbance change after several adsorptions in static state adsorption experiment of gasoline vapor. The result shows that the adsorption rate is up to the specific surface to volume ratio, and after several adsorption and desorption cycle, the effective adsorbance of active carbon keeps constant, so that the effective adsorbance could be as the main index to estimate the adsorption performance of active carbon.II. Two kinds of active carbon were selected by static state experiment. It studies on the adsorbance affected by temperature, flux of mixed gas, height to diameter ratio of adsorption column and several adsorptions and on the pressure drop of adsorption column and adsorption heat during the adsorption. The result shows that ten seconds of detention time or more is enough for active carbon and mixed gas to contact to finish the adsorption. The height to diameter ratio of adsorption column should be more than 2:1, and the major value could be selected if the desorption processing and the total pressure drop permits. The active carbon adsorption process is similar to the heat insulation adsorption that the active carbon temperature increases obviously with different gas concentration.III. Three factors including the degree of vacuum, temperature and air lancing flux were used to estimate the gasoline vapor desorption performance of active carbon. The result shows that three factors affect the desorption obviously, in which temperature is the top while the degree of vacuum is the last.
