The adsorption and recovery of gasoline vapor with active carbon as the sorbent were studied in this paper, which supplies the reference to the processing and design of adsorption in oil vapor recovery system. The main content includes:I. Several kinds of commercial active carbon were selected by studying the properties of adsorption, desorption and adsorbance change for the gasoline vapor. The results show that the adsorption rate is up to the specific surface to volume ratio, and after several cycle of adsorption and desorption, the effective adsorbance of active carbon keeps constant and the effective adsorbance could be as the main index to estimate the adsorption performance of active carbon.II. Two kinds of active carbon were selected by static state experiments. The effect on adsorbance by temperature, the flux of mixed gas and the ratio of height to diameter were studied, especially the adsorption column and reduplicate adsorption processes, the pressure decrease of adsorption column and the adsorption heat were investigated. The results show that ten seconds of detention time or more is enough for the adsorption of mixed gas to active carbon. The ratio of height to diameter of adsorption column should be more than 2:1, and the high value will be anticipant under the permission of the total pressure decrease. The adsorption process of the active carbon is similar to the heat insulation adsorption that the temperature of active carbon increases obviously with different gas concentration.III. Three factors including the degree of vacuum, temperature and air lancing flux were used to estimate the gasoline vapor desorption performance of active carbon. The results showed that the desorption were affected by all the three factors obviously, in which temperature is the most significant factor and vacuum degree the least.
