Base on the application of the spindle and bush, using plasma-spraying technology, the frictional and wear properties of TiO2 coating/tin Bronze,TiO2 coating/ GCr15 steel and 20Cr steel / tin Bronze were investigated systemically. The micro hardness, thickness, bonding strength and apparent porosity of coating was measured. The topography of the wear coating is investigated by SEM. And the EDAX is used to analyze the structure of the micro-contact area after the wear experiment. The results show that spindles, which were covered by TiO2 coating, have the longer life, the lower wear velocity and the better properties. TiO2 coating/tin Bronze can be used under the high press and high velocity condition. Antiwear hydraulic oil has an obvious effect on reducing the wear velocity of TiO2 coating and tin Bronze. It is useful of GCr15 steel to reduce the wear velocity as the bush material. The paper presented a model to explain the above frictional and wear mechanism. The model including contact, collision, friction and wear can explain the experimental data well. Three categories of contact on rubbing surfaces are distinguished: transfer film-oxide film,coating- oxide film,coating- tin Bronze. Each category of contact is of a probability distribution on the real contact area due to its randomness. In the model, some parameters are introduced in, such asη, which is the nascently exposed metallic or coating surface probability;τ, which is shearing strength between the contact surfaces; andζ, which has the relation with the temperature and the press.
