With the rapidly development of large scale and high density breeding industry in ourcountry, a large amount of industrial waste water and domestic sewage was drained, theecological emviornment was serious damaged, it is necessary to take proper treatments.Photosynthetic bacterial was one of the widely existed and ancient bacterialpopulation, it is Prokaryote that possess the orginal photosynthetic system which enable thephotosynthesis under anaerobic conditions. Photosynthetic bacterial, as one of the widelyused watar purification preparation, is able to utilize many kinds of organic matter formetabolism and growth under aeroboic, microaerobic and anaerobic conditions, it isdominant in the purification treatment of organic waste water, the enviommental effect isprominent.In this reseach, 6 photosynthetic bacterial strains were isolated from multiple watersamples, different organic substance degradation effect was found. 2 effective strains fromwaste water of Nanhu hogpen were selected for further investigation. The rate of CODremoval by using the strains in sterilized waste water was determined to test its capacity ofwater purification.The results showed, the COD ofhogpen waste water was decreased 88.4%,55.2%,61.5%,46.2%,57.7% and 95.2% by using P1-P6 respectively. The strain P6 not only havethe best removal rate result, also have the ability to treat many waste water samples,suggesting its better adaptability. Base on the morphology, living cell light absorbance andcarbon utilization characteristic, the strains were identified as follows:P1- Phaeospirillum molischianum, P2-Rhodospirillum rubrum, P3- Chromatiumminus, P4-Rhodobium orientis, P5-Lamprobacter, P6-Rhodopseudomonas palustriso Sincethese strains are able to use the organic matters in the waste water as nutriment to archivefast growth, hold a obvious purification effect against waste water, it has considerablepotential for application.Different treatment was performed on waste water by photosynthetic bacterial,therefore, COD value of a large number of sample need to be determined, thecircumfluence of traditional COD determination method takes too much time and the costof instrument method is high. Now, many labs have adopted rapid methods to measure the COD value, but the methods are not entirely the same, and most of the methods just have afew control experiments to indicate the practicability, and seldom have been elaborated. Inthe present experiment, the optimal circumfluence condition was measured by usingpotassium biphthalate standard solutions as the standard water samples. The mathematicalanalysis of the experimental results indicate, the accuracy of standard method could bearchieved by the rapid method conducts in the acidic enviomment of 8.8 mol/L and set thecircumfluence for 50 min.
