Recently, self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) have received great interests in electrochemistry and electroanalytical chemistry, because the technology make it possible for modifying electrodes' surfaces conveniently and controllably and improving greatly the characteristics of the electrodes, such as selective, sensitivity and reproducibility. The short-chain mercapto-compounds can accelerate the electron transfer of electrode surfaces, so it can be applied to investigate the characterization of electrocatalization and electron-transfer of the electrode surface. In this thesis, we choose some short-chain mercapto-compounds to prepare SAMs modified electrodes. The electrochemical behaviors of some bio-molecule were explored on the SAMs modified electrode, containing hydroquinone, dopamine and epinephrine. Meanwhile, the electrochemical behavior of cytochrome c on the SAMs modified electrode has also been investigated. The main contents are listed as follows:(1) Research progress of self-assembled monolayers was reviewed. Then the research proposal of this thesis was presented; (2) mercaptoacetic acid self-assembled modified electrode was prepared for electrochemical determination of hydroquinone; (3) we chose L-cysteine to prepare the L-cysteine/Au electrode, and investigate electrochemical selective response of dopamine in the presence of AA; (4) Nano-Au self-assembled electrode was also fabricated for electrocatalytic determination of epinephrine in the presence of ascorbic acid; (5) we prepared 6-mercaptopurine/Au and penicillamine/Au electrode by self-assembling, and investigate direct electron transfer of cytochrome c on these modified electrodes. The cytochrome c/penicillamine electrode can be used for the electrocatalytic determination of NO.
