Design and research of molecular self-assembly system has attracted great interest in the people because of the potential significance of molecular devices and supramolecular materials. The phenomenon of molecular recognition has involved in the principles of self-organization and self-assembly, to the extent that participating molecules must not only be blessed with a reasonably precise chemical form but also perform a particular biological function. In this paper, In order to investigate further the influence of mercapto-azobenzene compounds on the formation of the pseudorotaxanes and to increase the number of recognition suitable for the self-assmbly of these complicated molecular structures, we successfully explored a common route for the synthesis of theπ-electron-rich mercapto-azobenzene compounds from 4-acetamidophenol using six steps by etherification, esterification, reduction. The structure of the final product was characterized by means of 1HNMR and MS. This route is provided with mild reactions, convenient operations and high yields. In order to further study the property and function of the supramolecular device and self-assemled monolayers (SAMs) which were formated by self-assembly, we designed and synthesized theπ-electron-deficient cyclophane cyclobis. The bipyridine, 1,4-bis(bromomethyl)-benzene and template all dissolved in acetonitrile to form a homogeneous system, and atmospheric pressure stirring reaction and after column chromatography, ion exchange, with 22.1% yield to afford the target compounds theπ-electron-deficient cyclophane cyclobis.Pseudorotaxanes geometries have been formed in solution byπ-πstacking (charge-transfer) interactions from mercapto-azobenzene compounds and theπ-electron-deficient cyclophane cyclobis (paraquat-p-phenylene). The temperature-dependent 1HNMR spectroscopy reveals the threading/unthreading processes. Experiments show that hydrogen on the benzene ring CPQT is gradual displaced of low-field shift with increasing temperature. Prepare mercapto-azobenzene compounds self-assembled monolayers electrodes on the gold electrodes, and investigate the structure and properties of self-assembled monolayers electrodes. The results showed that mercapto-azobenzene compounds can be formed on the gold electrode self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), but the formation of monolayer is not compact, there are shortcomings, and self-assembled monolayers do not have the electronic transmission capability. The above-mentioned has laid a foundation for the study of self-assmbly and electrochemistry.
