Organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) are used extensively and efficiently in agricultural pest control. However, OPs have the negative effect on environment and human health. In recent years, bioremediation of OPs has been the focus of research. Bioremediation of OPs include microbial bioremediation and phytoremediation. Microbial bioremediation of OPs is efficient, but it may bring potential danger into the environment. In contrast, phytoremediation is safe. Therefore, people pay more attention to phytoremediation. The enzymes, which are related with metabolism of OPs in organism, have been analyzed by bioinformatics method. Base on the analysis, organophosphate inducible system has been established by treatment of the swimming seedling and drenching roots with organophosphate solution. This inducible system consists of model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and methamidophos, folimat or methyl parathion which are the representative types of highly toxical OPs. Meanwhile, the responses of the esterase isozymes and the total soluble proteins to OPs in Arabidopsis thaliana have been detected by Native-PAGE and SDS-PAGE.The result has demonstrated that a kind of X-Pro dipeptidase-like protein which is capable of hydrolyzing G-type organophosphate (war gas) exists in Arabidopsis thaliana, but no enzyme which can degrade OPs such as methamidophos exists. OPs could get into Arabidopsis thaliana rapidly through its root and inhibit the activity of esterase isoenzymes simultaneously. The ribulose-1, 5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase(RuBisCO) is fragmentated after the treatment of folimat or methyl parathion. It indicated that RuBisCO might play a role in response of Arabidopsis thaliana to OPs stress. This paper provides some evidences of response of plant to OPs stress, and it can shed some light on the stategies for OPs phytoremediation.
