Because there were certain drawbacks at the aspects of production process and transfer degree for traditional craft of chemical modification of starch, the starch products have not been produced at large-scale. Human's desire to improve environment by starch material cannot realize, so super-refinement technology of starch has been brought. When starchy particles are in ultrafine grinding, their granularity decrease and surface energy increase, leading to physicochemical property of starch changing.They are widely used in the region of agriculture, food, cosmetic, medicine, textile, papermaking, and drilling.According to the design requirement of starchy particle size from 200- 400 mesh(38-75μm)to 1250 mesh(≤10μm) and output for 150-200kg/h, this paper put forward technology of comminution by airflow for starchy ultrafine grinding, designing a process of airflow comminution for it, which adopts comminution medium of clean ang dry air.The flat jet mill with self-grade is selected as the host machine. For enhancing the effect of comminution and grade on the machine, we adopt comminution and grading room of two truncation taper cavity and scaling nozzle to supply for supersonic velocity working medium. We design the flat jet mill by gas stream and the major appurtenance of disintegrator set such as air holder, distribution tank and cyclone separator, and select the compressor and bag filter.In running experience of set, it shows that when air pressure is definite, product size grown with feeding quantity increasing; when feeding quantity is definite, product size decrease with air-pressure increasing. It illuminate the operating variable of the set must be Controled under certain conditions. Test and analysis state that product size will be 8.2μm when air pressure is 0.8MPa and feeding quantity is 151kg/h. It demands the design effect.Test and analysis yet state that product characteristic with tiny particle size, narrow size distribution, regular particle shape, high purity and good adsorptivity.Nowaday, the research findings have been applyed in starch industry, solved the engineering roadblock of super-refine of starch, and brought favorable economic benefit for the enterprise. It has supplyed a innovation for deep artifactitious starch.
