The research examined the influence of process conditions on the rheological characteristic of polymer modified asphalt and explored the optimal process conditions, tested the rheological characteristic of modified asphalt with different LSBS content by means of rheological characteristic assessment methods and thermal analysis method, and ascertained effective rheological characteristic assessment methods and evaluating indicators. It was indicated that many process factors, such as shearing time, shearing velocity and development time would affect the rheological characteristic of modified asphalt to some different extent, and the optimal technological parameter was ascertained with reference to rheological characteristic indicators. Force and ductility test was used to evaluate the rheological characteristic of the above LSBS modified asphalt sample, and effective indicators of evaluating temperature sensitivity, time sensitivity of the sample were determined among the numerous experiment indicators. It was found that modifier content, temperature, load time and rate of extension have considerable influence on rheological characteristic of modified asphalt. The method of penetration, elastic recovery, force and ductility test could be used as effective methods of evaluating time sensitivity, temperature sensitivity and load sensitivity. And among them, force and ductility test could integrate with extension compliance, viscoelastic proportion and equivalent stiffness to evaluate the asphalt modified effect and cryogenic property. DSC experimental result could predict compatibility of LSBS and base asphalt, high temperature performance, cryogenic property and temperature sensitivity performance and so on, with a change of heat absorption capacity.
