At present, domestic pipeline welding are by handcraft arc welding andsome semiautomatic welding assisted. In the welding process, somequestions such as instability quality, low productivity etc. appeared becauseof the human factors. TLP joining technique has some excellentperformences of high efficiency, high automatic degree, low distortion, nowelding soot etc, so it gains more and more attention. Aiming at thiscondition, a pipeline-welding machine is developed with the characters ofsimpleoperation,convenientmovement,highweldingefficiencyetc.The designing of the mechanical structures and control system of theTLP joining machine are finished, and the mechanical structure and thecentricity of workpiece are simulated and checked by ANSYS. The weldingtemperaturefieldissimulatedbyCOMSOL.Theonlyparametersofinducingheating frequency, the power etc are confirmed according to the changing oftemperature field. The mechanical structures include lathe bed,workpiece-clamping structure, clamp moving structure, pressing system,heating system and protecting system. Pressing system adopts the springpressing mode which has the simple structure, convenient operation; theheating system adopts intermediate frequency inducing heating, and the frequency is about 10 KHz, the power is 20 KW. The highest heatingtemperature can reach 1200oC. The designing of control system includes thedesigning of hardware circuit and the compiling of control software. Thesystem controls the welding process, heating temperature, heatingpreservation time and the switch of protecting gas by PLC.The results indicate that the TLP joining machine can finish a pipelinetie-in welding in 5 to 10 minutes and the mechanics performance of the tie-incan fulfill the demond of fieldwork, can get to the aim of research and design,and have the value of market application.
