There is abundant brine resource in our country, meanwhile the exploitation is relativelypoor. Magnesium hydroxide is one of inorganic flame-retardant which plays a very importantrole in modern society. The brine resource take as raw material to synthesis good quality, wellcapability magnesium hydroxide is not only signify to science using brine resource and dealwith the pollution of salt industry, but also great economic benefit can be obtained. In thispaper, the preparation of nano-size magnesium hydroxide was investigated and new methodto synthesis 1D magnesium hydroxide nano-powders is developed. We have firstly andsuccessfully synthesized 1D nano-size magnesium hydroxide by means of ammonia solutionused as deposition agent react with brine and the solid state reaction between magnesiumchloride and sodium hydroxide. The different morphologies such as plate, needle and wire ofmagnesium hydroxide were fabricated at different reaction condition. We studied theinfluence of different parameters in the fabrication process such as the heating temperature, feed way, injection speed and the dispersant agent on the size, morphology of themagnesium hydroxide nano-powders. Base on this, the optimum reaction conditions aredetermined, and characterization of the products is studied by means of TEM,XRD andTA-DGA etc. Base on the results of the experiment, the reaction theory of 1D magnesiumhydroxide obtained by solid-state reaction is studied.
