With the improvement of industrialization, the environment was destroyed more and more seriously in our state. The work of protecting environment cannot wait again. Good environment monitoring system offered guarantee for the environment protecting and relative legislating.The spots of environment monitoring were always dispersed with diversiform of geographical condition. It was inefficient and limited to connect the environment data by manual work or by wire network. To solve these problems, we combined the imbedded technology, mobile communication technology, and Internet network technology to design this environment monitoring system, which was based on GPRS technology and solved the data transmission problems. The design and implement of the system could be narrated by following aspects.Firstly, the structure and characters of GPRS network were introduced and the framework of the environment monitoring system based on GPRS network was proposed. It could be divided into three parts: the environment parameter collecting module, GPRS data communication module, and data center on high-level system.Secondly, the hardware platform of the imbedded system was designed based on ARM7 microprocessor and MC35i module. The embedded real-time operation systemμC/OS-Ⅱwas transplanted, which erect a good development platform for the design of multitask and TCP/IP protocol stack.Thirdly, the software was designed in low-level system. Lots of network protocols were analyzed, PPP, IP, TCP and UDP etc, while the uIP protocol stack was transplanted. Then multitasks were designed on imbedded operation.At last, the high-level software was designed based on Socket and Database technology. Then the environment monitoring system was tested successfully.
