Ring rolling is a special craft for producing seamless rings, which crushes ring blank into bigger diameter and smaller cross section through continuously local rolling. Classical theoretical investigation only describes ring rolling craft coarsely while the traditional trial-and-error method delays periodicity and increases cost. The general finite element software Deform is adopted in this thesis for ring rolling. A three dimensional model is created to simulate the dynamic rolling process within a period time and fatal design factors are analyzed and promoted for ring rolling after the numerical simulation.An explicit finite element equation is employed to determine the rigid-plastic stress and strain constitutive relation for large deformation, and a slab rolling is simulated and then the results are compared subsequently to validate the feasibility of Deform in simulating plastic deformation of metal,meanwhile the deformation characteristic of metal is investigated basing on simulating to decide pivotal effect factors, and then a three dimensional model of a rectangle profile ring is created and the dynamic rolling process of a period time is simulated to implement the virtual rolling, based on this rolling process, the fatal variables are analyzed and optimized to explore those critical factors on the rolling process and the rolling efficiency in order to promote the structural parameters of the blank and provide reference for the real rolling process. Finally the dynamic rolling process of a sidestep profile ring within a period time is simulated with this software, and this is also a extent from rectangle profile ring rolling for a extended application.It is concluded form the simulation that it would be helpful in product predicting, reducing the designing time and cost and also adaptable to the market when the rolling process is analyzed with finite element software.
