Ring rolling processed the ring in the revolving dies to get the products.By deforming the ring continuously and locally ring rolling could get the processed ring with less load and energy consumption.Racial-axial ring rolling could assure good quality of the upper surface of the rings and the stability of the process.As to many process parameters like rolling ratio the,quality of forming figurer,size of the ring blank, revolving speed of the main roll,feeding speed of the mandrel would influence the quality of ring rolling.By setting up the numerical simulation of ring rolling, the design of ring rolling and the predicts of the procedure could be finished with less time,material consumption and cost.In the paper the setting up of the simulation of ring rolling was accomplished by creating the entity model of mandrel from PROE cooperating with the module in the software of FORGE.The paper focused on the ring rolling of structured ring wich was seldom studied in China to set up the finite element modeling.The ring rolling in the paper used the material of20Cr2Ni4,which had good qualities like sstrength and toughnes.The procedure of the ring rolling process design was neatened and confirmed.The conditions like whether the ring could be taken into the dies and the plastic zone could get through the wall of the ring by the dies were checked.The simulation was set up with a larger and a less deformation to find out top and bottom limitations by analysing the results.Via the method of orthogonal test,less simulations were used to get the best process parameters.Rolling ratio,the revolving speed of the main roll,feeding speed of the mandrel and the feeding speed of the stone roller were all got and analysed to get their influence to the ring rolling.Telling the quality of the ring products by studying the filling state of material,fishtail coefficient,size of the outer diameter,angle of cone of the ring’s outer diameter,deformation force,consumed power and moment of force of the main roll was suitable with using the simulation software FORGE.Cooperating with Hubei Xinyegang Steel Co.,Ltd,we put the whole process into the practice to verify the validity of the craft.By means of numerical simulation of the whole process, theoretical analysis, combined with experimental verification, the simulations remarkably improve the quality, utilization rate of material and production efficiency of ring rolling products, shortening the development period of new products,to reduce the cost of production and strengthen the market competitiveness of the products. In the meantime, the simulation provides the theoretical basis and the practical guidence for the ring rolling of structured ring of our country in the future.
