Rotational molding is a technological method of hollow plastic molding products. The processing is unique, the principle is easy, and the equipment is also simple. Rotational molding products widely used in transport, traffic safety facilities, recreation, river channel dredging, construction, water treatment, pharmaceutical, food, electronics, chemical industry, aquaculture, textile printing and dyeing. Further study and integrating rotational molding machine design with modern scientific method is necessary.This paper takes Pro/Engineer as the application development platform, and aimed to set up an intelligent CAD system, to carry out all the designing tasks of rotational molding machine. Using Pro/Mechanica and Pro/mechanism module for the parts design and device simulation could improve design efficiency, reduce production costs and save time, thereby enhancing production efficiency.The main tasks undertaken in the papers are as follows:1. Design the rotational molding machine in Pro/Engineer.The structure is simplified in the design to improve the efficiency. On the premise of strength, the structure is optimized to lighten the facility. We design, model and assembly all in Pro/Engineer.2. Pro/Mechanical Structure AnalysisAnalysis and optimize the key parts of the machine based on Pro/Mechanical.3. Movement simulationAccording to the rules of rotational molding machine, simulate the movement based on the model we designed by Pro/Engineer and carry out the motion parameter.
