Pulsed discharge plasma for organic wastewater treatment is a potent advanced oxidation technology. The technology could almost non-selectively oxidates high concentration and toxic organic wastewater, which is difficult to treat by general ways. Furthermore,it has many characteristics such as high disposal efficiency, quick oxidation rate and little secondly pollution. So it has wide industrial application. The paper has designed a needle-plate pulsed discharge plasma reactor for dye wastewater rhodamine B decoloration and has investigated the pulse voltage, pulse frequency, electrode distance, rate of plumping, initial concentration which influence on the decoloration efficiency of different reactor to treat rhodamine B. The results show that the decoloration efficiency increases with the pulse voltage or the pulse frequency increase, and firstly increases with electrode distance or the rate of plumping increase then decreases with electrode distance or the rate of plumping increase. It has investigated the different reactors to treat the rhodamine B wastewater at the same experimental condition. The results indicate that the three needles-plate reactor is the best discharge reactor. Then pulsed discharge combining with photocatalyst for treatment the rhodamine B wastewater has been investigated. The results indicate that the photocatalyst can obviously improve the decoloration efficiency, and the decoloration efficiency increase firstly with the concentration of catalyst increase then decrease with it. The best concentration of catalyst is 1.5g/L. It has analyzed the change of the TOC and the PH when treating the rhodamine B wastewater. The results indicate that the TOC fall to 26.90mg/L from 70.29 mg/L and the PH fall to 2.43 from 3.72. It shows that a part of rhodamine B have mineralized completely and the other part have become small molecular and easy treatment organic acid. The organic acid can become carbon dioxide and water when the treatment time is enough long. At last the mechanism of pulsed discharge plasma for organic wastewater treatment has been analyzed and the results show that the hydroxyl, high-energy electron, ozone, hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet light from pulsed discharge are main process for organic wastewater treatment.
