Aiming at the optimal mechanical properties, a kind of cemented carbide material based on submicronic WC bound by fine cobalt powder were developed successfully. Named JN10, it is used as anvil materials for man-made diamond fabricatioon. Its sintering behavior and mechanical properties were studied. Its T.R.S is higher than 3200MPa, its hardness is higher than HV1500.The fabrication process of submicronic WC as well as the inhibitor doping are studied. The effects of the volume fraction of binder on mechanical properties and the function of SIP for JN10 are studied. The effects of sintering temperature and sintering pressure on mechanical properties and microstructure are analyzed. The doping methods and doping content of the inhibitor are studied. An optimum method to uniformly refine grains was found. The mechanisms of reducing porosity by SIP and then improving the T.R.S of materials are analyzed. The toughening mechanisms of binder by heat -treatment are studied.Focus on the effects of Co binders' two structure on mechanical properties, the approach to improving anvils' mechanical properties and the service life are studied. The effects of the precision of finishing grinding on the anvils' service life are studied. Eliminating residual stresses by treatment for a given period of time are analyzed. The service life experiments are conducted on both JN10 anvils and the YG8 anvils. The results show that the service life of JN10 anvil is 50 percent higher than that of YG8 anvils, indicating that JN10 anvil is possessed of higher compression, fatigue and breakage resistance.
