CCDZ50 Type Bogie is used in the train of Beijing subway line 5and line 10, the axle box is one of the key parts in this bogie. Axle box supports the train with springs, stands all impact loads during train running. Casting quality of the axle box has direct relationship with running safety of the train. Thus, dense structure is demanded, casting defects such as shrinkage porosity, cavity and so on are not allowed.There are two main problems in the original casting process, the one is the low technics availability ratio which is only 34%; the other one is that too many chillers are used which causes process to be complex. Through simulation of the original process, risers are optimized, the technics availability ratio is enhanced to 39% after optimized; Simultaneity, much logical disposal plan of chillers is designed, which reduce the number of chillers. The cast produced according to the optimized riser and disposal plan of chillers meets the quality requirement, it validates that the parameter setting is reasonable. The defect is that the technics availability ratio is still low after optimized, so the feeding system is designed again. The open riser process and the blind riser process are designed at last, the technics availability ratio of the two improve process is 51% and 64%, the two improve processes meet the design requirement by the real product validation.Through the course of improving process on axle box, a series technics designing flow using Pro/E and ProCAST is designed, the flow make technics design be more scientific and reasonable, which could reduce the period of technics design greatly. This paper provides technics reference for corporation to improve casting process with ProCAST and has important meaning for corporation to enhance economy benefit.
