Based on synthetic and systematical analysis of the state-of-the-act of laser-arc hybrid welding technique, the welding characteristics of low powered YAG laser- paraxial MAG arc hybrid welding of stainless steel are studied in this paper. The influence on stabilization of welding process, penetration depth, weld width and reinforcement height of (V)arious welding parameters are analyzed. Based the pre(V)ious welding technology, a practical workpiece was welded by low powered YAG laser- paraxial MAG arc hybrid welding technology. The mechanical properties and microstructure of hybrid and single MAG welded joint were analyzed and tested by modern analytic instrument. The characteristics of welding arc plasma configuration and emission spectrum in low-power YAG laser-MAG hybrid welding process were in(V)estigated by high speed camera and spectrometer in this paper, the electron density and temperature of hybrid welding arc plasma were also analyzed in contrast with that of single MAG welding arc,the mechanism of laser interact with arc was in(V)estigated, (V)erify the local thermal equilibrium(LTE) of hybrid welding and single MAG welding, which pro(V)ide a theoretical and practical foundation for further study on low-power laser-MAG hybrid welding technique.
