The spinning machine is the most important production equipment of textile industry, feeding the roving one-way to produce yarn for weaving and knitting by drafting and twisting. Yarn is draught by lifting board, winds to spindle of high-speed rotation to form specific formation.The winding formation in ring spinning machine is controlled by mechanical cam at present in China, resulting in low quality, high mechanical wear and narrow application. The paper utilizes the new-developed winding servo system to drive the lifting board, and substitutes the induction motor and the mechanical cam. The system consists of touch screen, programmable logic controller (PLC), servo driver, permanent magnet synchronous motor and sensors etc. Touch-screen finishes the function of parameters inputting, data showing, process monitoring. DSP in the servo driver communicates with PLC, acquires various signals of the system sensors, outputs control signals to inverters, servo driver, and other implementing agencies. The servo driver drives motor to drive the lifting board after gear slows the speed. In addition to the implementation of field-orientated control and winding formation, DSP in the servo driver is responsible for communication with PLC by means of SCI.The paper introduces the principle of the spinning machine, concludes the winding algorithm by calculate the process of mechanical winding and formation, describes the constitution and function of the winding servo system. Then designs the servo system with the core of DSP in which winding algorithm and the FOC are combined, reduces the real-time requirements of the PLC. The system is used on the improved mechanical spinning frame, and the satisfied winding formation and unreeling are obtained, and the test results are given. The worksite operation demonstrates the software and hardware schemes are feasible and general.
