The new calix[4]arene derivatives (2BpaCA, BpaCA) with di-(2-picolyl)amine group and their complexes with Cu(II), Zn(II), Ni(II) were synthesised and characterized. The UV-Vis absorption spectra of calixarene derivatives 2BpaCA, BpaCA were measured and calculated by the chemometric methods. The stable constants, the species distributions and their absorption spectra in the equilibrium system of Cu2+ complexes were obtained. The first and the second-order stable constants of 2BpaCACu2 were lgK1=6.55 and lgK2= 12.34, the stable constant of BpaCACu was 5.24. This showed both of them were very stable.A kinetic study of hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl acetate (p-NA) catalyzed by the Zn (II) and Cu(II) complexes was carried out. The results showed that they could effectively catalyze the hydrolysis of p-NA. The rate constants of the 2BpaCACu2, 2BpaCAZn2 were higher than the BpaCACu and BpaCAZn. The rate constants of Zn (II) complexes were also higher than the Cu( II) complexes.
