As a very typical class of layered compounds, Layered Double Hyroxides(LDHs), which could be tailored in the host-guest assembly, have been widely applied on a variety of fields, such as ion-exchange, catalysis, absorption and photo function, etc.. Due to its positive layered structure, novel layered compounds with unusual properties could be created by inserting different ions or molecule in the interlamellar spaces. In this thesis, the Hydrotalcite(Hydrotalcite like compound) was studied as the research object, we prepared special layered compounds, and their properties were taken into consideration as well.(1) With the surfactant SDS(Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate), one-dimensional nanorods Cd(OH)2 intercalated with Dodecyl Sulfate(DS) were prepared via low temperature hydrothermal reaction. After sulfuration and hydrothermal reaction again, nanorods containing CdS nano particles on their surface were obtained from the as-synthesized nanorods. The uniform nanorod was ca. 100nm in diameter. SEM shows that the nanorods synthesized in liquid phase were formed due to naturally rolling the multi-lamella of hydrotalcite. In addition, thioacetamide was the optimum choice in sulfiding process from the SEM analysis. But the nanorod could be broken or even collapsed by over sulfiding, as the result of the limit of the sulfiding ratio. The sample as-synthsized could likely display good photocatalysis performance, and this part of job was under investigation.(2) We synthesized three types of Cd-containing LDHs compounds (CdCr-LDH, ZnCdCr-LDH, and CdDS) containing Dodecyl Sulfate(DS) as the interlamellar anion through a coprecipitation technique. The powder X-ray diffraction patterns indicated that the as-synthesized samples exhibited high structural order. The typical diffraction peaks corresponded to intercalated layered double hydroxides with layer separations in good coherence with those reported previously. And the UV-vis spectra revealed the existence of mononuclear state of CrIII in a nearly octahedral OH- environment within the hydroxide layer of the Cr-containing LDHs. In addition, antiferromagnetic interactions between the CrIII centers have been observed from the as-prepared CdCr-LDH and ZnCdCr-LDH. The introduction of zinc influences the ligand field of CrIII and the CrIII-CrIII interactions in the Cr-containing LDH compound.
