With the booming highway construction and the increasing traffic, every year China yields tremendous recycled asphalt pavement. Therefore, it is of both academic and social significance to do research on the recycling technology of the recycled asphalt pavement and on the development of the recycling facilities, which help reclaim the valuable resource and prevent the pollution. During the recycling process, it is extremely important to investigate the energy consumption and efficiency of the recycling equipment and to control the secondary pollution.This thesis first summarized the current situation of the recycled asphalt pavement both in China and in foreign countries. Based on the analysis of the prevalent recycling technologies, it then put forward an approach suitable to China's reality. Second, it studied the environment effect of recycled asphalt pavement and the mechanism of asphalt aging and recycling, and analyzed the working flow and main structure of the twin-roll asphalt recycling equipment, which was transformed from the common batch-type asphalt mixer by adding another set of asphalt recycling and dryer facility.Third, this thesis analyzed the thermal balance of the recycling dryer drum. Based on the analysis, the parameters of the drum were set. Next a simulation study was conducted on the drum's burning temperature field and the reliability of the result was tested by thermal imaging experiments. This thesis then analyzed the length distribution of different sectors according to the function of the blade and also the different length distributions of three technological areas. Based on the two analyses and taking into consideration the heat distribution of the dryer drum during the simulation analysis, this thesis suggested an optimized method of designing the blade distribution in the inner-cavity of the dryer drum and the conclusion provides a reliable model for the design and application of the recycling equipment of the recycled asphalt pavement.Finally, this thesis evaluated the quality of the asphalt recycling mixer, and analyzed the economic and social benefits of the recycling mixer facility. With all these works, this thesis has the certain project application value to the design optimization of the recycling equipment of the recycled asphalt pavement.
