Heave compensation is one of the keys to technology that need to solve in deep sea mining.Heave compensation system needs to get the heave motion signal of the mining ship as a feedback to carry out the compensation control. Accurate measure the mining ship heave displacement in the deep sea environment is important and also difficult. Therefore, how to accurate measure the mining ship heave displacement is one of the focuses of research on the deep-sea mining compensation system. Analyzing the ultra-short baseline positioning theory in this paper. Based on the work before,focus on simulative experiment research on the amplitude-modulation-phase-difference(AMPD) ultrasonic ultra-short baseline(USBL) displacement measuring theory.The main contents of this paper are presented as follow:(1)After analyzing the shortage of the conventional USBL positioning system,apply an AMPD ultrasonic USBL method for measure the heave motion of the mining ship.(2) According to the simulatIive experiment requirement, develop the AMPD ultrasonic USBL displacement measuring system. Focused on electrical parts, include AM ultrasonic launch and receive hardware system, high-speed data acquisition hardware and software system.(3) Carry on the simulative experiment by AMPD ultrasonic USBL displacement measuring system, and carry on processing and analysis towards the AM ultrasonic signal.(4) Analyzing and summarizing the experiment result, and presented AMPD ultrasonic USBL displacement measuring method is validated .Finally give the conclusions and the future research.The research is a part of the project,Research on the heave compensation system for deep sea mining system sponsored by the national nature science fund. we develop the AMPD ultrasonic USBL displacement measuring system in this paper, its research achievements can use for reference for the future research on the displacement measuring method of the heave compensation system.
