Phosphate ester is an important type of surfactant, which has good anti-static, emulsifying and anti-rust properties. It has been widely applied in many aspects such as detergents, cosmetics and pesticides. With the development of coatings industry, environmentally friendly coatings is the inevitable trend of the future development, UV-curing coatings and water-borne coatings are the two large branches. However, shrinkage stress causes weak adhesion in UV-curing coatings and weak adhesion,poor water-resistance,low hardness,poor anti-corrosion resistance in water-borne coatings affecting their promotion. Therefore, it is the focus of our study to synthesize a functional phosphate ester can be used in UV-curing and water-borne coatings to improve their comprehensive performances.The purpose of this research is to use functional phosphate ester to improve the performance of coating. This research includes Preparation of functional phosphate monomer, Application of functional phosphate ester in UV-curing coatings, Synthesis of functional styrene-acrylic latex and Preparation of water-borne anti-corrosion coatings.1. Propose a method of preparation of functional phosphate ester with acrylate hydroxyl-ester and phosphorus pentoxide in certain condition of time and temperature. The structure of functional phosphate ester was determined through test of acid value and FIR.2. Add functional phosphate ester to the UV-curing coating to improve adhesion of the coating, results showed that the adhesion could be improved from grade 5 to 0~1 after adding functional phosphate ester to majority of substrates, and determined the best addition amount of functional phosphate ester.3. Introduce the functional monomer into styrene-acrylic latex to participate in copolymerization reaction. The best addition amount of functional monomer and the optimal prescription were determined through testing the performance of adhesion, water resistance,hardness,stability and so on, and the film of functional emulsion was characterized by FIR.4. Waterborne anti-corrosion coating was prepared based on the functional styrene-acrylic emulsion mentioned above by orthogonal design with optimization environment-friendly antirust pigment, influence factor and optimum formulation of anti-corrosion coating was also determined. Through testing the performance of film, the results showed that the waterborne anti-corrosion coating prepared with self-made functional styrene-acrylic emulsion and environment-friendly antirust pigment Zinc phosphate,aluminium triphosphate has excellent anti-corrosion performance. The maximum lasting time for salt-water resistance test of the coating film exceeded 70 days, which was greatly longer than that of emulsion film(lasting time for salt-water resistance is 6 days). It showed that there was coordination function between functional emulsion and antirust pigment.
