The development and application of solar energy cells has been paid much attention. The conjugated polymer/fullerene C60 is considered to be a kind of promising material for the active layer of solar energy cells. It is poor solubility in most organic solvent that restrains the wide use of C60 as a good material for the active layer of solar energy cells. Hence, it is important and profound to synthesize a kind of derivation from C60 with good dissolution and well matched with conjugated polymer for the progress of the solar energy cells. Based on the summarization about primary knowledge of the polymer solar energy cells, bis-1-(3-methoxy -carbonyl)propyl-1-phenyl[6,6]C62 (called PC62BM) was designed as the potential material for the polymer solar energy cells.The route to synthesize the PC62BM includes five steps. Such as, esterification, chloride reaction, the preparation ofγ-benzen acyl methyl butyrate and hydrazone, and C60 addition reaction. By optimizing the conditions of each reaction, PC62BM was obtained. Chromatographic method was employed to separate and sort the isomers of PC62BM according to their configurations.The main results and innovations achieved in the work are as following.(1). Reaction conditions of each step were optimized, and the key factors in the reactions were studied. The yields of each step reaction were 95 %, 97%, 85 %,and 85 %, which were higher than those have been reported. The yields of PC62BM and 1-(3 -methoxy carbonyl) -propyl-1-phenyl [6,6]C61 were 36.64% and 31.43% respectively in the C60 addition reaction. PC62BM was identified by FAB/ms, FT-IR and 1H-NMR.(2). The modern analytic methods were employed to verify the intermediate products in the synthesis of PC62BM. GC/MS and IR were used to identify methyl glutarate,γ-benzen acyl methyl butyrate and hydrazone.(3). Fourier transform infrared spectrum was used to study the reaction rate of the key step in C60 addition reaction.(4). Three kinds of isomers of PC62BM were obtained through separation and purification using silica gel chromatography. Combined with the detection of UV-vis, high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) was used to separate and sort the isomers.(5). Set up a method of HPLC to get the solubility of PC62BM and PCBM in chloroform, and compare the data.The synthesis methods of separation and purification used in the thesis are steady and reliant. 6.16g aim production PC62BM has been gotten by using these synthesis methods of separation and purification. The yield of PC62BM was 36.64%.
