| The Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) reaction is one of the most important carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions in organic synthesis. Recently, the study of the asymmetric MBH reaction, especially catalyzed by small-molecule organocatalysis, is very active. In this thesis, we have designed and synthesized series of novel chiral small-molecule organocatalysts and applied them to catalyze asymmetric MBH reactions of aromatic aldehydes with methyl vinyl ketone (MVK). Screened by experiments, it was found that good reactivity and enantioselectivity could be obtained when the reaction catalyzed by the chiral imidazolines as organocatalysts. The reaction conditions, such as solvent, were optimized. When the reaction of aromatic aldehydes with MVK proceeds under the optimal conditions, modest to good yields (20-95%) and modest ee (4%-61% ee) could be obtained. |
