It was more than one century since the heterocyclic compounds were found. With the development of structural analysis and identifiable technology, more and more heterocyclic compounds were found, and the applied field and purpose of them were wided.The tribologocal properties of N-containing heterocyclic compounds such as thiazole and triazine derivatives have been attracting a considerable amount of research efforts. It has been found that these ashless compounds with compact and stable structures posses excellent extreme pressure, antiwear and friction-reducing properties, and good anticorrosion and antioxidation performances as well.Novel 1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thione derivative TD1,TD2,TSO1 and TSO2 were synthesized and confirmed by elemental analyses, IR and 1HNMR. The thermal properties of these four compounds investigated by thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA); and the tribological properties as additive in rapeseed oil was examined by four-ball tester; Worn surface morphology and element chemical composition of rubbing film was analyzed by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X–ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results indicate that these four compounds possess good thermal stability; TD1 and TD2 as additives in the rapeseed oil decrease the wear rate and friction coefficient were not very well; TSO1 and TSO2 as additives in the rapeseed oil were able to obviously decrease the wear rate and friction coefficient, and the optimal concentration of TSO1 and TSO2 as antiwear additives in RSO are 1.0 wt.% and 0.75 wt.%. The additives reacted with metal surface to form a film containing FeS, FeS2 and FeSO4, and nitrogen metal complex,nitrogen oxides and organic nitrogen,all these compound contributed to improve tribological properties of the rapeseed oil.Two novel ionic liquids derivative were synthesized and confirmed by IR and 1HNMR. Then, two Ag nanoparticles A and B were synthesized in ionic liquids. The structure and morphology of the nanoparticles were characterized by TEM. Tribological properties of Ag nanoparticles-doped rapeseed oil were investigated on four-ball machine. The lubrication properties of rapeseed oil were improved after Ag nanoparticles doping. The SEM results of the wear surface show that the organic film and the metal-organic film play an important role respectively, at 300N load.
