| With the developing of panel industry, panel secondary processing becomes more and more important. Sanding is one of the pivotal working procedures before secondary processing. It takes an important role in panel secondary processing and final product quality. Faces grinding occupies thirty percentage of woodwork processing time. It is obviously that sanding machine accounts for sizeable proportion in woodwork processingSanding machines used in our wood industry have the common shortages such as low efficiency and poor quality. These shortages are due to low feeding speed, poor processing precision and unsuitable processing parameter. We take model 300 sanding machine as example. First, we study the principium of sand belts move along roller by analyzing the tensile force of sand belts in sanding process. According to the analysis of tensile force and move modality, we adscript it as simple harmonic motion, establish the equation of sand belt motion and draw the displacement curve, so that we can find the relation between displacement of sand belt and surface roughness. During a certain range, the displacement is more, the surface roughness value is lower, and the surface quality is better.Considering surface roughness influenced by many factors , we used two models sand belts(60#,120#) to grind samples of juglans, birch, elm, white pine. Then we measure the surface roughness of samples by surface roughness equipment and analysis the variance of surface roughness value. The factors that influence surface roughness are different among different wood. When the displacement of sand belt is 8mm and the grinding quantity is 0.2mm, the displacement is more, we use No.60 sand belt grinding birch .We can conclude that when the feeding speed is less than 4m/min the surface roughness value is decreasing with the feeding speed increasing and when the feeding speed is more than 4m/min the surface roughness value is increasing with the feeding speed increasing. When the feeding speed is about 4m/min the surface roughness value is the minimum what suggests that the surface quality is best. When we considered the influence of feeding speed for surface roughness, we should combine it with grinding speed. When grinding quantity is 0.1mm and the feeding speed is 4.55m/min, we use No.60 sand belt grinding juglans. The displacement of sand belt is less than 8mm, the displacement is more the surface roughness value is less and the surface quality is better what suggests that surface quality is increasing with the displacement increasing. When grinding quantity is 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4mm,we use No.60 sand belt, surface roughness of white pine are more prone to be influenced by grinding quantity than that of juglans, birch and elm. The surface roughness value increases with the increasing of grinding quantity. Therefore the grinding quantity is more, the surface quality is worse.This paper not only find the relation between displacement and surface roughness, but also find the relation among feeding speed, grinding quantity and surface roughness.
