Weld is a kind of technique with extensive application,it not only play an important role in developing sophisticated science & technology and national defense equipment, but also has common meaning to improve manufacturing.Excess welding deformation will affect structure size and lower it's loading ability etc.,which need a great deal of time in correcting work. The correcting will affect the whole production schedule and manufacture costs.So predicting and controlling welding deformation become very important,especially to some large complicated structures.Numerical simulation provides a valid tool to predicting welding deformation.Three dimension thermal elastic-plastic finite element method (FEM) can simulate the whole welding process.But it costs huge calculation time for three dimension thermal elastic-plastic finite element analyse. For a long time,this method was only applicable to welding mechanics behavior analyses of common joint, it was seldom used to the welding deformation analysis of large complicated structure.Firstly,the paper generalized the theory of thermal elastic-plastic FEM ,elaborated its status quo and realization process. Then,taking large complicated structure of compression resistance cabin which looks like Arabic numerals"8"as research object, it predigested FEM model of the structure by adopting different kinds of elements,and on the principle of heat equivalency effect, it predigested weld process by combinatorial multi-beads to reduce the number of beads.On the base of above predigestion,Using general FEM software ANSYS ,it carried out thermal elastic-plastic finite element analysis of the parts and the whole weld of the compression resistance cabin,and obtained the welding deformation.It put forward measures to decrease the deformation by analyzing the deformation. The research results provided a good theory basis to control welding deformation of the compression resistance cabin.
