The technology of rail welding plays a very important role in the engineering of laying continuous welded railway(CWR). With the development of high-speed and heavy-loading track, the quality of rail welding is desired to be more and more exigent. Now, the technology of flash welding has been applying in the engineering of rail welding progressively. The temperature field of flash welding plays a crucial role in the quality of welding joint, so the study of welding temperature field is significant to ensure the traffic safety and quality of welding and reduce the cost of welding.With ANSYS, an useful general software in the finite elements analysis field, this paper accomplishes the dynamic simulation of rail welding temperature field. The paper also provides the real temperature field which is taken by using infrared camera, and the comparisons indicate that the simulation result can reflect the real one well.Using the electric-heat coupling model built, this work discussed how to get the temperature field with different welding parameters and its effect conditions. The flash butt welding parameters, such as flash model, flash velocity and initial clamp distance were analyzed quantitatively. The rule of heat producing and temperature distribution by different welding parameters in coupling with electric and heat was researched. According to the result of simulation, the paper provides standards of choosing parameters of flash welding.
