As a kind of new antibiotic, fosfomycin has been recently recognized and then applied widely. Chemical method is mainly used in its production by now, Northeast Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd, the biggest fosfomycin producer in China, utilizes cis-propylphosphonic acid as a substrate for producing fosfomycin. Fosfomycin has two kinds of optical isomers, and there will be the racemic products produced in chemistry process. After separating these two kinds of optical isomers, only half of them is levo-fosfomycin which has the antibiotic activity, however, another half is dextral-fosfomycin which has no activity.Given the deficiencies of the chemical process, biotransformation method seem to be a process to replace. Therefore, we took dextral-fosfomycin produced in chemical process as the substrate, screening out the strains which could utilize dextral-fosfomycin as a sole carbon source to produce levo-fosfomycin. Based on this idea, we collected soil samples around the place where dextral-fosfomycin is lying. After screening there were 165 strains found which applied to our quests.Results showed that, the strains we got consist of two different kinds, the dextral-fosfomycin utilization strains and the levo-fosfomycin resistance strains. 13 special strains were picked for the next step experiment, in which all of them fermented together. We abstracted by the method of bio-identification, It was found that there was levo-fosfomycin produced in the fermentation liquid. But we didn't know which of them are the mainly functional strains, so the 13 strains was fermented individually. Finally, we found three of them are better ones, named as 1, 2 and 13. After 16SrRNA sequence analysis, three special strains identified as Rhodococcus sp., Arthrobacter sp. and Luteimonas sp..Our study provides another direction for levo-fosfomycin producing, taking a deep research is helpful to make up the deficiencies of chemical process, and improving productivity.
