In the paper, the dynamics of the ring spinning process is analyzed in area two, and two series of differential equations of the balloon shape are obtained, one is in the case of ignoring the effect of air drag, and the other is including the air drag. Then equations are resolved by numerical methods. In the process of solving equations without air drag, four parameters are tested which are the angular velocity of spindle, the linear density of yarn, the height of the balloon and the yarn tension at the pigtail; and balloon shapes and yarn tension have been obtained under different parameters. By the comparison of these results, how much these parameters influence the balloon shapes is estimated. Furthermore, we category the balloon shape, conclude the rule of balloon inflation as the yarn tension changing, and get the parameters which is set for the normal balloon shape. In the process of solving equations with air drag, the differential equations is resolved by finite difference method and the balloon shape have been obtained under different yarn and machine parameters. The influence of air drag can be figured out at the projection. By comparing with the balloon shape without air drag, it was confirmed that the air drag influence the balloon shape hugely.By using of the numerical solutions of balloon shapes, the mass of traveler is predicted. To do so, we take the yarn tension and angular at the position of traveler into the equilibrium equation of traveler. At last, the mass of traveler can be predicted.Based on the analysis of traveler motion, the traveler structural analysis is taken by the FEM. The element solid 46 is used to simulate the composite laminates of traveler. At last, the stress distribution have been obtained. Particularly, the shear distribution between layers have been figured out. It conclud that the stress grades is the reason of traveler fragility.
