Rings and travellers are the key appropriative accessories and equipment of the ring spinning frame. On the one hand, whether rings and travelers match well or not directly affects the yarn quality as well as the production efficiency of ring spinning frame; on the other hand, both of the ring and traveller complete the yarn twisting and winding together with the spindle with high-speed rotation, and play a role in controlling yarn tension. The planar ring shows some limitations under the high-speed conditions, such as the smaller contact area, the stronger pressure between the ring and traveller, the shorter life of traveller, the poorer operational stability three-dimensional space and easier to produce mutation tension. For this, the conical ring traveler system researched by the experts and scholars makes up for the deficiency of the planar ring traveller system to a certain extent. This paper analyzes the mechanical characteristics taking BC9 bearing conical ring traveler during conical ring traveler system. On this basis, it comparatively analyzes the stress distribution on BC9 the traveler and the planar ring traveler and the ability to control the balloon.Firstly, the force on the traveller is analyzed by Darren Bell principle This paper have been given the tension expressions of balloon bottom considering and neglecting the effects of air-drag and Coriolis force respectively. Moreover, it gives the tension values combined with the tension expressions above. Furthermore, it has analyzed the property of yarn tension in the lower end of the balloon. Besides, the movement in three-dimensional space is discussed. Secondly, the static simulation of both BC9 ring traveller and the planar ring traveller.is carried out by ANSYS, based on BC9 ring traveller force analysis and combined with the recent domestic research of the mechanical properties of the planar ring traveller. Finally, it explores the rule of balloon variation in this paper. The ability to control the balloon of both BC9 ring traveller and planar ring traveller is different. A further root cause analysis is performed.Compared with the planar ring traveller, the excellent properties of the conical ring traveler are larger contact area, smaller pressure, smaller spinning tension, better control of the balloon etc. By the comparative analysis, the conclusions of the project are as follows:(1) the yarn tension in the lower end of the balloon decreased with the winding radius increased and increased with the angles of balloon bottom increased. Moreover, the yarn tension difference between winding major diameter and minor diameter increased with the angles of balloon bottom increased. It is reasonable to calculate and analysis inclining angles of three-dimensional space traveler considering the impact of air resistance and Coriolis inertial force.(2) The maximum stress on the BC9 traveler is always less than the maximum stress on the planar ring traveler. Besides, it has better wear resistance than the planar ring traveler. (3) Compared with planar ring, BC9 ring traveler system balloon has better control ability of balloon.
