The powered supports are used to assure the workspace and safety in modern high yield and high efficiency coal mining. Its safety and reliability determine the probability of application and popularization of comprehensive mechanized coal mining method. In order to testify the powered supports can be suitable for the hard and complicated working conditions in coal mining, prototype experimentation, which costs too much time and money, gets only a little information is strongly required. Additionally, one separate structure of the powered support is hardly tested actually, which is another demerit. Nowadays, more research passion and attention has been paid on stress-strain analysis of main structures, but little on their fatigue life estimation. There are many imported advanced powered supports whose conservative life prescribed by the manufacturers has expired in Shenhua Group, one of most famous energy company in China. In order to reduce the cost and make fully use of these supports, it is imperative to estimate the life of supports more reasonally.In order to overcome these demerits and fill the blank of fatigue life estimation mentioned above, a new method based on the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) to simulate the prototype experimentation is referred to inthis paper, which will help achieve the main goal-fatigue life estimation ofone separate structure with the software of MSC.FATIGUE. On the way to destination estimating the fatigue life of base, one main structure of powered support, the stress and deformation of the separate main structure can be acquired incidentally. ZY6800/14/32 powered support, one kind of products of Zhengzhou Mine Machine Limited Company, is taken for example. The main contents in this paper include: the powered support prototype experimentation simulation, resulting in the data of force in the dowels connecting the main structures each other; the static linear finite element analysis, bringing about the states of static stress and deformation of the separate main structure in the simulation experimentation; and fatigue life estimation, showing the fatigue life of the dangerous locations of the structure.Much more accurate and manifold information including the results of nodal displacement, stress, and fatigue life which can be shown by way of nephograms or tables can be selected by applying CAE and using Finite Element Method (FEM) in analysis of the powered support. This method is faster and more economic than traditional method, which, accordingly, will have great expectations in the structure optimization design inevitably. Addionally, it can recommand us of more scientific life of powered supports.
