Rotor-stator reactor (RSR) was a new process intensification equipment. RSR are not easy to be fouled because fluid stands high shear force when passing through the gaps between the rotor-parts and corresponding stator-parts. It is suitable for high viscous or crystal system.The micromixing efficiency of RSR was investigated by employing the iodide-iodate reaction as working system, in which the HEC was introduced as thickening agent. The effects of RSR-combinations, rotor speed, viscosity, feed time of acid and gas velocity on micromixing efficiency were studied. The experiments results showed that in the same conditions, the micromixing efficiency of RC-SC was the best; Xs strongly depends on the viscosity of the liquid and Xs was smaller for the higher rotor speed; Xs increased as the speed of feed acid increased. Based on the incorporation model, the calculating expressions were deduced.In addition, the applications of RSR in preparing emulsion and nano-CaCO3 were investigated.(1) Preparation of o/w emulsion by RSREffects of different experimental conditions such as rotor speed, emulsification duration and dosage of emulsifier on the mean droplets size and droplets size distribution of the prepared emulsion were investigated. Experimental results indicated that the emulsion with mean droplets size of 2-3μm, narrow droplets size distribution and good dispersion could be prepared by rotor-stator reactor. Compared with the emulsion prepared by ultrasonic mulser, the as-prepared emulsion by rotor-stator reactor has smaller mean droplets size and narrower droplets size distribution.(2) Preparation of nano-CaCO3 in viscous systemThe multiphase reaction system of Ca(OH)2-H2O-CO2 was employed to prepare nano-CaCO3.And HEC was used to change viscosity of the liquid. The experiments results showed that HEC made reaction time extended; when the viscocity was increased, the production would reunite more badly; In the HEC liquid, cube production could be obtained.
