In this paper,using the ligand exchanging reactions of ferrocene with different arenes,several cationic photoinitiators were synthesized including [Cp-Fe-carbazole]PF6(â… C0-CFS),[Cp-Fe-N-ethylcarbazole]PF6(â…¡C2-CFS), [Cp-Fe-N-butylcarbazole]PF6(â…¢C4-CFS),[Cp-Fe-N-octylcarbazole]PF6 (â…£C8-CFS),[Cp-Fe-diphenylmethane]PF6(â…¤).The ligand exchanging reaction conditions were examined.The optimized reaction temperature, reaction period were found.The structure of them are identified by IR and 1H-NMR.Compoundâ…¢andâ…£are not reported before.The UV-Vis absorption and photolysis of arene-Cp iron salts in dichloromethane were studied.And the molar extinction coefficients were determined.There into the light absorption above 300nm caused by d-d transition of arene-Cp iron salts make them suitable with high pressure Hg lamp which is usually used in the photo-curing.The compound of N-alkyl substitutional arene-Cp iron salts compared withâ… -261,the absorption at 300-400nm is stronger.Compared withâ… ,â…¡,â…¢,â…£show good solubility as the connection of alkyl at the atom of nitrogen.Using arene-Cp iron salts synthesized as photoinitiators,cycloaliphatic epoxide ERL4221 and TDE 85 as oligomers,the curing activities were examined under RT-FTIR.The photopolymerization rate of ERL4221 is higher than that of TDE 85.The photoinitiating activities of them are higher than that ofâ… -261.The photoinitiating activity is increased by 20%with the adding of BPO,BPO is a kind of efficient sensitizer for them.Arene-Cp iron salts as thermal cationic initiators for curing of expoxide ERL4221,TDE85 and E51 in the temperature of 40-300℃were investigated. The initiating peak temperature ofâ…¡,â…¢,â…£are between 166 and 171℃.E51 is not initiated byâ… ,the initiating peak temperature ofâ… with ERL4221, TDE 85 is about 174℃.E51 is also not initiated byâ…¤,the initiating peak temperature ofâ… with ERL4221,TDE 85 is 223℃and 227℃,which is higher than that of N-alkyl carbazole ferrocenium.
