In this dissertation, some valuable data and a method for the improvement of the performance of the NONEL tube were provided. To reduce the risk in production process and improve the performance of the NONEL tube, a certain kind of nanometer additive was chosen. And two kinds of improved charges were made by adding a certain amount of additive into the charge, and then the improved NONEL tubes were extruded. The explosion characteristics of the charges were studied experimentally. The results by 20L spherical explosion chamber demonstrated that the nanometer additive had lowed down the max pressure of explosion of the charge, while had little effects on the explosion limit concentration. The results also indicated the additive can decrease the risk in process without changing other technical parameters. The results obtained by the Jovian test system indicated that the additive had remarkably improved the ignition ability and the output of shock-wave pressure. The results of Shockwave velocity obtained experimentally and theoretically also proved that the chosen additive had improved the performance of the NONEL tube. All of these results were important preparation for investigating the mechanisms of the detonation in the NONEL tube and the action of the additive in the charge. Furthermore, this dissertation provided an easy and feasible method to evaluate the ignition ability of the NONEL tube.
