The Study Of Preparation Of Cefuroxime Axetil

The cefuroxime axetil is the 2nd cephalosporin antibiotic, it is synthesized from cefuroxime acid by the esterification , hydrolyzation, crystal. Pure amorphous cefuroxime axetil was obtained by the spray drying technique.The paper improves method of synthesizing and spray drying cefuroxime axetil so that the totle yield reachs 87.24%.The paper uses K₂CO₃ as the catalyst; it makes cefuroxime acid esterify completely. In the esterification, we use DMF as the solvent under low temperature. The effects of the amount of catalyst, the ratio of the reactants, the choice of the solvent of reaction and the solvent of crystallization were investigated. In addition, the spray drying technique were investigated so that cost of production is reduced.The structure of cefuroxime axetil was confirmed by IR, ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR and MS. X-ray diffraction diagram shows that product is amorphous.SEM photograph shows that product is globosity grain.
