With the rapid development of cities in our country, the requirement of better living environment and quality is getting more and more eager. Landscape water has become an essential part of the improvement of people's living environment. However, the manmade landscape water has brought more and more problems to the cities in spite of its beautification function, such as low fluidity and self-purification ability, serious eutrophication,the difficulties of maintenance of water quality and the lack of management of the water. People are paying much more attention to their living environment, which make the management and maintenance of the landscape water more and more important and necessary. It surely will be of much value for researchers of this domain.As for the management of landscape water, many factors should be considered. In this thesis, the guarantee of water quantity, maintenance of water quality and the optimal operation of the water body management are mainly discussed.The first problem is the way of water quantity maintenance, including the loss of water, the source and the way of water complement. Then the comparison of the technologies of pollution control and the water quality rehabilitation is made to find out their advantages and disadvantages.Then several factors are discussed, which are relevant to the maintenance and management of landscape water. Both of the cost and the quality of the water source should be considered carefully. The fluidity should be improved to increase the self-purifying ability of landscape water. Several ways should be used to avoid and control the eutrophication, including ecological method. Physical, ecological and the combined ways should be used to improve the quality of the water. Constructed wet land and water body circulation are two efficient ways and have been discussed particularly in the essay.At last, a mathematical model is constructed, which is about the optimal operation of landscape water. In this model, the target function is the least cost of the management. The methods, quantity and time of water complement, the modes and the periods of water circulation are all considered in the model to minimize the cost and maximize the benefit of the whole system.Base on the former research, a case study in Tianjin City has been discussed to find the way of optimal operation of landscape water. A reasonable and economical operation method is searched, by the comparison of the daily cost of operation at different situations of water complement. This research can be taken as a reference of the optimal decision-making, management and programming of the similar landscape waters in the northern cities.
