W-Cu composites have been used widely in the fields of electrical materials, electron, war industry and spaceflight due to their high strength and hardnessl, good electrical and erosion resistance. However, because of the mutual insolubility between W and Cu, it is difficult to get W-Cu composites with high relative density by traditional methods of infiltration of a tungsten skeleton with liquid copper and liquid sintering. In this dissertation, we choose W-40wt%Cu to be experimented. We put forward a new method that is mixting-compacting- liquid sintering- first hot extruding wih steel jacket-second extrusion or hot rolling. Using this method, we can obain fully densified composite with fine microstructure and good properties. We get well-proportioned composite powder from simple substance powder of W and Cu using short time and low speed mechanical milling.Through first hot extruding and the deformations after that, we find that the sintered compacts of W-40wt%Cu have different performances. After the second extruding, W granules of the test sample have obvious plastic deformation, conductivity and hardnessl of the test samples all increase. Compare with that, after hot rolling, W granules of the test sample do not have clear deformation, conductivity and hardnessl of the test samples all decrease. Through analyzing of constituent, we also find that the density of second extruding samples is close to 100%. Meanwhile we analyse different parts of the first extruding sample and find that their properties are same, so we can say: the component of test samples is relatively homogeneous.
