Because of lots of excellent characteristics, Glass-ceramic is new inorganic metalloid material. The projects of glass-ceramic made of solid wastes, which are produced from blast furnace gas ash in Baotou Steel (Group) Corporation, not only recycles wastes, but also improves the materials technique content and added value. At the same time, the method improves the use of gas ash and makes the utilization of gas ash set to higher position, and the projects offers a new channel for the comprehensive utilization of tailings in Baotou Steel (Group) Corporation. Apparent environmental, social and economical benefits can be gotten.In this paper, preparation of glass-ceramic used blast furnace gas ash, quartz sand, quicklime and aluminum oxide as the main raw materials, TiO2 is acted as nucleating agent. Based on gas ash major raw materials, the thesis develops successfully glass-ceramic with adopting the melting method and the rate of comprehensive utilization can reach to 50%. The thesis designs the composition of fundamental glass and chooses suitable melting temperature and determines glass-ceramic's technology. At the same time, the test adopts the advanced method of DSC, SEM and so on. The microcrystalline structure and the physical chemical properties are analyzed in order to get the advanced preparation technology's progress and rationality. It provides technical support and theoretical foundation. Finally, the paper defines optimum technological parameter of preparation of glass-ceramic with blast furnace in Baotou Steel (Group) Corporation after extensive exploration and a large number of tests were carried on.The performance index of the preparation of glass-ceramic are: the compressive strength of more than 480 MPa and the Vickers-hardness of 1354 HV.DSC analysis showed that both the nuclear temperature and the crystallization temperature of the glass-ceramic became lower and even precipitation of wollastonite crystals increased, as the blast furnace gas ash was added.The appropriate heat treatment process can effectively make foundation glass into the nucleus and crystals, then glass-ceramic materials with a system of uniform distribution of small crystals were prepared. The properties of the glass-ceramics can also be promoted by optimizing the heat-treatment parameters. Through heat treatment programme for experimental design and analysis of results, the thesis determines the heat treatment process parameters of the blast furnace gas ash to manufacture glass-ceramic are: melted at 1450℃for 3h, annealed at 600℃for 5h. The best system for heat treatment: it rise to the nuclear temperature which is 680℃by the rate of 6℃/ min for 2h and then to the crystallization temperature which is 940℃by the rate of 4℃/ min for 2h, and subsequently cool with the furnace.
