| Titanium has low density, high specific strength and excellent corrosion resistance, non-toxic,working temperature adapt to a wide range,etc.advantages.Its alloys have better performance and widely applied in the aerospace, metallurgy, chemical and other industries. However, the existing complex production process and high production costs not beneficial to their large-scale application. Therefore,it is necessary to explore a short, low-cost and environmental friendly process to recover titanium. This paper deals with the process of the electrolytic reduction of titanium dioxide to titanium. In view of some key problems exiting in the electrolytic reduction process, the preparation of TiO2 cathode and some elements affecting the electro-reduction were discussed in detail. For the first time, the nature of TiO2 cathode was optimized by putting cotton fiber into TiO2.The result indicated that cotton fiber can increase the number of gas hole, the porosity of TiO2 cathode and the confusion of porosity, which is beneficial in the electro-reduction of titanium dioxide to titanium.Sintering temperature, sintering time, electrolysis time on the electrochemical reduction of the impact is also investigated.Through analyzing of the oxygen content, the current efficiency,SEM,XRD,and other results of the electrochemical reduction product, the optimal experimental conditions obtained are:sintering temperature 1100℃,the sintering time 4h and the electrolysis time 9h.At the chosen optimal conditions,a high-purity titanium with oxygen content of 0.28%was obtained. |
