The Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (shortened form MBBR) is a kind of new biofilm reactor, which has the high removal efficiency and the stabilization of effluent water quality .The MBBR technics may not need the sludge reflux equipment, need not fix backflushing equipment and can reduce the equipment investment. The process is simple, moreover the process can produce a little excess sludge . MBBR is suitable in the sanitary sewage and the industrial sewage. This experiment used the artificial waste water, discussed the biomass on fillers, the output of sludge and the removal efficiency of the moving bed biofilm reactor with different filling proportion. the MBBR' s expense function was established and optimized. The results showed that the MBBR operated steadily with the chemical oxygen demand and the ammonia nitrogen removal rate more than 93% with different filling proportion and the conditions that the hydraulic retention time is 12h, influent COD is 400mg/L, NH4+-N is 40mg/L. Along with the increasing filling proportion, the biomass attached to single filler reduced gradually, but the total sludge concentration increased gradually. When the filling proportion is 10%, the biomass of a single filler is 0.014g,The conversion unit reactor volume's biofilm quantity can reach 1078mgSS. When the filling proportion is 70%, the biomass of a single filler is 0.004963g. The unit reactor volume's biofilm quantity is 2673mgSS. The sludge rate of production was less and less with the filling proportion more and more in the same reactor.MBBR technology's expenses have a close relationship with filling proportion . The otherness of MBBR'technics and activated sludge technics was investigated. Aeration tank and secondary sedimentation tank was analyzed on expenses. MBBR technology's expenses can be analyzed and optimized by using the structures' volume and the filling proportion to establish the expense function of construction. Using the system's aeration quantity and reflux ratio to establish the operation expense function. The expense of MBBR technics was analysed and simulated . The result indicated that when the filler service life is longer than certain numericai value, if a water treatment factory which processes load n ten thousand ton wastwater eyery day is established. Using the MBBR technics much economical than the active sludge technics with the same influent water quality. In this experiment, using the MBBR technics to treat sewage, when the filling proportion is 40%, the total expense is smallest.
