In contrast to rigid bipyridyl ligand, the conformation, bidentate angle of flexible ligands are easily modified when self-assembly with metal ions. The influence of the environment conditions can alter the structure of the coordination polymers, thus, it is difficult to predict the structure of the final complexes. So it can construct various, novel supramoleculer structure and will open a new field of the supramoleculer chemistry. In this paper, four novel coordination complexes, [Ag(L1)]·(m-Hbdc) (1), [Ag(Hbtc)(L1)]·[Ag(L1)]·2H2O (2), [Ag2(L2)2]·(OH-bdc)2·4H2O (3), and [Cu2Cl2(L3)] (4), (where L1 = 1,1'-(1,4-butanediyl)bis(imidazole), L2 = 1,2-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene,L3=1,4-bis[1-(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl]butane,m-H2bdc=1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid, H3btc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid and OH-H2bdc = 5-hydroxisophthalic acid), have been synthesized. The crystal structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1, 2 and 4 display one-dimensional (1D) chain structures. Compounds 3 possess a 3D supramolecular structure.
