| Crystalline glaze is a kind of ornamental artistic glaze. It is broadly reported and gains favors of customers for its particular art style. Traditional crystalline glaze, of which firing temperature is 1350℃and firing period is 14-16 hours, is mainly used in craftwork and commodity ceramic. In contrast, the firing temperature and firing period of crystalline glaze applied for low temperature and fast firing are 1150-1200℃and 50-60min respectively. And the fast firing crystalline glaze ceramics at low temperature have not reported yet, which not only add new species to architectural ceramics and raise the competitive forces of products, but also meet the needs of increasing artistic appreciation of people and advance the art atmosphere of society.This paper was mainly for the purpose of curtailing firing period of traditional crystalline glaze and decreasing the production cost. The author proceeded from formulation and process, and produced a new kind of low temperature and fast firing crystalline glaze which was accorded with modern tile at the basis of formulations of traditional crystalline glazes, using zinc oxide and silicon dioxide as primary raw materials, adding fluorite, and rutile as nucleator. The process of good crystal, low firing temperature and short period of firing was obtained through changing formulation and process, and also introducing crystal seeds simultaneously.The components and microstructure of crystalline glaze were analyzed by XRD and polarizing microscope, and it was determined that the host lattice formed in the glaze was willemite. The formation mechanism of crystalline glaze and the effect of components and the thickness on crystallization were investigated as well.The effect of process such as the granularity of crystallizing agent and the thickness of glaze layer on the crystallization were discussed. And when the granularity of crystallizing agent is 0.074mm, and the weight of glaze is about 1.02×10~3 g/m~2, it will lead to better crystallization. |
