In this paper,using 2-Hydroxy-benzaldehyde,N1-[2-(2-Amino-vinylamino)-vinyl]-ethene-1, 2-diamine(L1),1,10-phenanthroline as the basic ligand,seven novel coordination compounds,containing Zn(Ⅱ),Ni(Ⅱ),Pb(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ),respectively,were prepared.All the compounds were characterized by IR and element analyses.The crystal structures of these compounds were determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction method.Futhermore,the interaction of the compounds with DNA,and the action of them on Tetrahymena thermophila growth metabolism were also studied.The main research in this paper are as included:1.Four compounds containing phen ligand have been synthesized and one of they is the compound of reduced Schiff base ligand.They are[Zn(sglyl)(phen)]·7H2O(1); [Cd(phen)2(Ac)]ClO4·H2O(2);Zn(phen)2Cl2(3);[Zn(phen)2(C5H7O2)]ClO4(4).The central metal atom in compounds 2,3 and 4 have a distorted octahedronal coordination geometry.Zn(Ⅱ)in compound 1 is coordinated through a phen and a reduced Schiff base ligand with a distorted triangle bipyramid coordination geometry.It is intersting that compound 1 has a 3D network structure with opening holes,and every hole was fillfulled with an infinite water cluster.2.Two ligands L1 and L2 and three compounds have been synthesized.They are [Zn2L1(Ac)]2·2H2O(5);[Ni)2L1(salicyl)]·H2O·CH3OH(6);[Pb2L3(NO3)(CH2N(CH3)2)]n(7). It is to be the flexile character of the L1 ligand,the coordination modes of three compounds are different.Compounds 5 and 6 are binuclear complex with five and six coordinated central metal,respectively;and 7 is a metal coordination polymer with seven coordinated central metal.3.The characteristics of the interaction of the compounds with DNA were examined by Ultra-Vis absorption spectra,EB-fluorescent spectra,viscosity measurements.The results show that the major type of interaction between compounds 1-4 might be partial intercalative binding mode.And for compounds 5-7,the interaction mode of one compoud with DNA is greatly different from those of the others.4.The action of the seven compounds on Tetrahymena thermophila growth metabolism was studied by microcalorimetry.The result means that the Zn(Ⅱ)and Ni(Ⅱ) compounds may promote Tetrahymena thermophila's growth;and the Pb(Ⅱ),Cd(Ⅱ) compounds may inhibit Tetrahymena thermophila'a growth,especially for the Pb(Ⅱ) compound,in our experimentative concentration.
